MP probes unlawful land occupation in Coloane

The Public Prosecutions Office has launched an investigation into the unlawful occupation of land in Coloane.
The Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau has recently inspected the two parcels of land, which are owned by the government, and found abandoned vehicles, machinery and containers. Inspectors also noticed that posters and boards clearly stating that the land belonged to the government had been destroyed, the MP revealed in a statement.
The prosecutor said that there is enough evidence to suggest that the two lots were surrounded by boards and placards which indicated that they were owned and managed by the government. “They were occupied intentionally by unknown persons. Nevertheless, the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau could not identify those who had occupied the land.
The occupiers have been accused of trespassing in the area, which was closed to the public.  If caught, they would be punished with imprisonment.
The prosecutor has opened a case and advised related departments to launch a criminal investigation, in order to find out who has occupied the two parcels, respectively located in Rua da Central Térmica de Coloane and its neighboring area to the South East of Fong I Quarry.
