Renoir didn’t leave much of an impression on a group of art lovers in Boston.
Protesters gathered outside the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to stage a mock demonstration against the French impressionist painter.
Some carried signs that read, “God Hates Renoir” and “Aesthetic Terrorism” and chanted, “Other art is worth your while! Renoir paints a steaming pile!”
The Boston Globe reports (bit.ly/1FViOZl ) that Monday’s playful protest was organized by Max Geller, creator of an Instagram account called Renoir Sucks at Painting. Geller says he wants the MFA to take down its Renoirs and replace them with works by other artists.
The museum isn’t commenting, and the demonstrators acknowledge they were just trying to be ironic.
