Outgoing secretaries get key administration posts

The outgoing Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr Cheong U, will move on to an appointment as Vice President of the Macau Foundation’s Administrative Council, according to an article published by local newspaper All About Macau. The same article reports that the incumbent Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr Lau Si Iao, will take up a position as the Chairman of the Macau Science Centre.
Currently, both posts are held by Mr Peter Lam Kam Seng, who is also a member of the Executive Council, and Council Chair of the University of Macau .
Moreover, the outgoing Commissioner Against Corruption, Mr Fong Man Chong, will take over the position of Coordinator of the Office for Personal Data Protection (GPDP), from Ms Sonia Chan Hoi Fan, who was appointed the new Secretary for Administration and Justice.
All About Macau reports that most of the outgoing principal officials have been assigned to new positions, except those due to retire after having served in their current posts for 15 years.
The Times contacted the Government Information Bureau (GCS) to inquire who would serve as the director of the Office to the European Union, Macau Economic and Commercial Delegation stationed in Lisbon, and the Macao Economic and Trade Office to the World Trade Organization. GCS said that the person chosen for those positions (who will replace the newly appointed Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Raimundo do Rosário)  is still unknown.
