Over 20,000 counterfeit Pop Mart toys seized at HZMB

Authorities at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Customs checkpoint recently intercepted three batches of suspected counterfeit merchandise, uncovering a total of 20,599 unauthorized blind box and plush toys infringing on Pop Mart’s intellectual property rights.
In the early hours of June 12, customs officers at the Zhuhai highway port inspected a cross-border e-commerce truck and found a shipment of blind box and plush toys packed in gray-brown cardboard boxes.
Among the 10,465 seized items, some bore the Pop Mart logo, while others – though unbranded – were visually identical to the popular Labubu series, a trademarked character under the Chinese toy giant Pop Mart.
Later that same day, customs intercepted two additional trucks, discovering 7,734 and 2,400 items, respectively, all featuring the Pop Mart branding. A total of 20,599 goods were seized across the three operations.
Pop Mart has confirmed that the seized items were unauthorized reproductions, infringing upon its trademark and copyright protections.
The rights holder has since applied for intellectual property protection through customs, and the counterfeit products are currently undergoing further investigation and legal processing.
Gongbei Customs warned importers and exporters to declare intellectual property status accurately, cautioning that violations could result in confiscation, fines, or criminal charges under Chinese law. Ns
