Percussion troupe aims to inspire children’s creativity

Percussion and acrobatic troupe CRASSH Duo Circus will be performing today until Sunday, featuring a team of creators that possess an array of talents, skilled in percussion, circus arts, clowning, and drama. Performing as part of the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, the duo from Portugal will be using everyday elements, in aesthetic and sound exploration.

As the Portugal-based performers told the Times in a recent interview, “Our company WeTumTum, created in 2011, is 100% dedicated to families and children. Therefore, we are personally concerned about children’s involvement with the arts, but, above all, we believe that every human being is capable of creating, regardless of their origins and abilities, using different artistic disciplines as a common and universal factor of communication.”

The duo combines disciplines like juggling, music and comedy to “constantly invite the public to participate in the show in an active and participatory way.” They use “everyday elements, in aesthetic and sound exploration” to craft their performances.

CRASSH Duo Circus perform detail-oriented shows that capture the maximum attention of children. Their “creative process is based on the assumption that everything is possible to use, without barriers or limits,” as they transform ordinary objects into rhythmic instruments. Victoria Chan
