A 46-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel located in the central district of the city yesterday, the Judiciary Police reported. The preliminary investigation by the police showed that there were many unusual wounds on the head of the deceased. A serious crime had occurred at the scene, the police reported. For the time being, the case is being treated as a suspected homicide.
Tourist hit by bus in San Ma lo
A traffic accident occurred in Avenida da Almeida Ribeiro, involving a Hong Kong man who was suspected to have been hit by a bus. The tourist, in his 70s, suffered from head injuries and was sent to the public hospital. According to authorities, the bus was making its way from San Ma Lo road to Ponte 16, and hit the victim when it reached the junction road. The female driver, in her 60s, passed a breathalyzer test. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Gov’t establishes platform to boost database of talents abroad
The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Talent Development Committee have established a linkage mechanism, the aim of which is to have students from Macau who are enrolled in higher education abroad register and update their information, so as to further enrich the “talent database” and attract and promote the return of talent. According to DSEDJ, starting from October last year to March 9, invitation emails were sent to beneficiaries of the school supplies subsidy for college students and students benefiting from college bursaries to encourage them to register their profiles.
Taipa-Barra LRT trial commences
A trial of the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) section between Taipa and Barra has commenced. The construction of Barra LRT station was completed in February after being delayed for over a year. Barra LRT station, located near the Barra transportation hub, can extend LRT service from Taipa to the Macau peninsula. This construction project, which was awarded nearly MOP1.2 billion, cited weather and the pandemic are the reasons for the delay. The pandemic caused 74 days of delay from 2020 to mid-2022.
