From 23 to 25 July Luanda will host the first meeting on tourism in the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), an initiative of the Association of Angolan Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (AAVOTA).
The executive secretary of AAVOTA, Augusto Pedro, told Angolan news agency Angop that the meeting on “Business opportunities in the CPLP Tourism market,” was intended to cover tourism routes within the CPLP.
“We want to hear about the experiences of all the players so that we can then work with the Ministry for Hotels and Tourism to draw up policies,” he said.
Augusto Pedro also said that the meeting would demonstrate the potential for domestic tourism of each member-country, with a view to attracting investment and promoting the sector.
In relation to Angola Pedro noted that national tour operators were promoting the tourism development hubs, which were initially designed to boost domestic tourism, to both national and international investors.
AAVOTA was set up in 1997 and is includes as its members the main travel agencies in the Angolan market. Its mission is to “unite them to that together they can contribute to development of national tourism.” MDT/Macauhub
