Public buses carry over 500,000 passengers daily

In 2023, the city’s two bus operators Transmac and TCM transported a combined total of 213 million passengers. Transmac carried 101 million passengers, averaging 279,000 per day, while TCM transported 112 million, or roughly 308,000 daily. The bus companies have invested in new electric and natural gas vehicles with 708 new energy buses now in operation, accounting for over 60% of the total fleet. Transport Bureau data shows the two operators ran 86 routes with 1,091 buses driven by 1,406 captains at the end of 2023.
