The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued a yellow hot weather warning yesterday morning.
According to weather forecasters, Macau is expected to experience very hot conditions over the next few days as a southerly airflow moves through the region. Temperatures may reach as high as 33 degrees Celsius in some areas.
As of 11:00 a.m. yesterday, the temperature had already exceeded 32 degrees Celsius in parts of the Macau peninsula and Coloane, with the highest reading being 32.8 degrees Celsius recorded at the Mount Fortress weather station.
Weather forecasters say Macau will continue to feel the heat today as the thermometer ranges between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures may even climb higher by one or two degrees in urban areas.
The Education and Youth Development Affairs Bureau is calling on schools, educational institutions, and youth organizations to avoid organizing outdoor activities under the scorching sun.
In a statement, the education authority advised schools to replace outdoor activities with indoor ones and to remain vigilant if they have already scheduled outdoor activities. HT
