Social affairs secretary attends World Health Assembly in Geneva

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong has departed for Geneva, Switzerland for the 76th World Health Assembly. She is attending as part of the Chinese delegation. This year’s assembly has adopted a list of over 70 issues focusing on sudden public health incidents, full-population healthcare coverage, and non-contagious diseases, as well as planning and budgeting for the coming two years, among other topics. Accompanying Ao Ieong are Health Bureau director Alvis Lo, public hospital medical director Warren Tai, and government public health doctor Leong Iek Hou, as well as Ao Ieong’s office director and an advisor.
