Macau’s Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng, is expected to address the territory this morning and possibly announce new measures further restricting entry to the city. The address will be broadcast to the public at 10 a.m.
According to information released by the government yesterday, Macau’s top official is analyzing the situation following the announcement of new entry restrictions in neighboring Hong Kong.
The neighboring city has barred entry for all non-residents, including those who are residents of mainland China, Taiwan and Macau.
Yesterday, the Macau government would not rule out the possibility of applying similar or identical measures.
Macau presently admits entry to the city for all residents of the greater China region. It bars non-resident workers, unless they are also residents of Hong Kong, Taiwan or the mainland.
