Two septuagenarians injured on moving walkway

After three days in operation, a moving walkway installed in the new pedestrian tunnel on Guia Hill has allegedly injured two female pedestrians aged 76 and 77 years.

The new tunnel was only opened to the public on October 1.

The two septuagenarians have been taken to the public hospital for medical attention. Injuries to their left elbows and waists were recorded.

After preliminary inspections, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) found that the moving walkway was operating normally and suspected the cause of the accident to be the victims tripping and falling.

The moving walkway has been suspended for service.

Meanwhile, according to local media outlet All About Macau, some social media users were cynical about the accident, making remarks such as “malfunctioning is part of Macau’s culture” and “just get used to [regular malfunctioning]” in mockery of the incident.

In contrast, some users suggested that the suspension was only necessitated by regular adjustments. AL
