Experienced local photographer Lou Kam Ieng has expanded his scope of creations and recently unveiled his first painting exhibition at the Macau Tower.
The exhibition was curated by local art company Macau Creations.
Before this exhibition, Lou held a multitude of photo exhibitions in and out of Macau. His works have also been transformed repeatedly by the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) into philately products (items relating to postage stamps).
Several photo books have also been published.
In recent years, without forgoing his initial interests, the artist has started exploring the painting world, creating works liberally and in a boundless manner, which is also the name of this exhibition.
Citing his own words during his speech at the opening ceremony, “painting is a liberal process and the creations may in the end resemble impressions of scenes I have perceived.”
Lou’s paintings may or may not be identified as abstract paintings. The key, as he suggests to his viewers, is to immerse oneself into the paintings and make their own meaning. Paintings exhibited sometimes resemble snow-capped mountains or scattered relics.
Discussing Lou’s talent, curator Wilson Lam said in his speech that an unconfined imagination could be seen.
The exhibition is on now at the lower ground floor of the Macau Tower. AL
