A New Year charity event in support of World Cancer Day, organized by CAC – Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau and sponsored by Macau Foundation, has opened to the public at Albergue SCM this week, and will run until March 18.
A note from the organizers says that the theme of this year is “Wishing Well and Love Trees.”
Since 2015 every Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, the protective glass cover of the well in the Patio of Albergue SCM, in Bairro de S. Lázaro, is removed for the public to make New Year wishes.
The funds raised will be donated to different charities to support various groups and people in need, organizers said.
According to Albergue SCM’s press release, to mark the World Cancer Day (February 4th of every year), the event this year will continue to support the charity Caritas-Macau “to promote love and the message of cherishing life, moreover to pray for an early end to the pandemic, and welcome a healthy and vibrant new year!”
“All are welcome to make a wish and put the donations into the wishing well or donation box.”
The event is organized by CAC – Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau with free admission.
