The president of China, Xi Jinping, said Wednesday at the Brazilian Congress, in Brasilia that the partnership between Brazil and China was a great example of South-South cooperation.
“Today the relationship between our two countries is no longer just a two-way relationship as we are at a higher level,” he said.
Xi said that relations had grown significantly over the last 40 years and that Brazil and China should increase their involvement in the international community.
“Relations between China and Brazil (…) are already beyond a two-way level and increasingly have a global projection. In the last five years China has been Brazil’s largest trading partner. And Brazil is China’s biggest trading partner and destination for foreign investment in Latin America and the Caribbean. We should see the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic relations as a starting point for (…) our Global Strategic Partnership to develop to a higher and more comprehensive level,” the Chinese president said.
