General Images Residential Properties In Macau Ahead Of GDP FiguresNew registration of motor vehicles decreased by 44.9 percent year-on-year to 932 during March, according to information released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), bringing the total number of licensed vehicles to 249,215 by the end of the month, up by 3 percent year-on-
year.
At the end of the first quarter of 2016, new registration of motor vehicles fell 27.6 percent year-on-year to 4,001, with that of motorcycles (2,241) and light private cars (1,299) falling by 23.4 percent and 42.1 percent respectively.
The number of traffic accidents in the first quarter increased by 2.7 percent when compared with the same quarter in 2015, to a total of 3,874 cases comprising of 1,200 injuries and four deaths. Of these, 408 injuries and three deaths were caused by traffic accidents in the month of March alone.
Meanwhile cross-border vehicle traffic totaled 432,917 trips in March 2016, up slightly by 0.4 percent year-on-year, though cross-border traffic edged down by 0.3 percent year-on-
year on a quarterly basis.
Passenger ferry movements between Macau and mainland and between the two SARs altogether decreased by 4.7 percent year-on-year in March, and dropped by 3.7 percent over the entire first quarter.
However commercial flight movements at the Macau International Airport totaled 4,516 in March, up by 5.8 percent year-on-year, and increasing by eight percent over the first quarter.
