150,000 people in Macau are using the 5G network, according to Lau Wai Meng, director of the Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT). Regarding some brands of phones that require licenses to use a 5G service, she believes that licenses will be granted soon. Lau believes that the 5G network can satisfy the needs of users as it is cheaper than 4G, and telecom operators have also promoted different prices according to different clients. The basic TV channels will be adjusted next Monday (March 27), and citizens should rescan their channels. Lau said that some TV antennas will be affected because a channel must rescan for a 5G connection.
