200 translators needed for the ‘platform’

Pointing out that Beijing has given Macau the role of facilitating communication between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Chan Chi Keong wanted to know the CE’s assessment of the steps being taken to achieve that goal.
“We have a solid foundation. Our role as a platform has been recognized by the participating countries. Since 2013, three ministerial forums were held in Macau and we strengthened cooperation in different areas,” said the CE.
Chui added that cooperation will be strengthened through events like the ministerial conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries that will take place in October. He also hinted that in order to organize the event and help fulfill the communicative role asked of Macau by the Central Government, 200 more translators are needed.
