Macau has announced its 26th confirmed case of Covid-19.
The latest case was detected in a 17-year-old female patient, who is a resident of Macau and a student in the United Kingdom.
On the evening of March 20, the patient took Emirates flight EK4 (seat 70D) from Heathrow Airport to Dubai and then on to Bangkok on flight EK372 (seat 27D). From Bangkok, the patient traveled to Macau on Air Macau flight NX881 (seat 10A).
Upon arrival in Macau on March 23, the patient notified the inspection team at the Health Services border post that in the past 14 days she had had a runny nose, headaches and other discomfort. She was taken by ambulance to the public hospital for testing.
Her initial test for Covid-19 was negative, but as she had come from a place of high risk of contamination, she was isolated at the Coloane Public Health Clinical Center. After 48 hours of isolation, the patient was tested again and it was confirmed that she had the novel coronavirus.
According to information released by the government, the patient traveled to Macau in the company of her older brother. The brother is considered to have had close contact with patient and has been sent to the Coloane Public Health Clinical Center for medical observation.
