WABAG gets over MOP85 million to operate wastewater plant

According to information from the government’s Official Gazette (BO) published yesterday, the company WABAG Water Services (Macao) Ltd will continue to operate the Coloane’s Wastewater Treatment Plant until at least 2018.
The Chief Executive (CE) order No 175/2016 that determines the provision of “Operation and Maintenance of Coloane Wastewater Treatment Plant” for the company also states that in total this service will cost the government MOP85.12 million.
This amount will be assigned to the service provider in yearly amounts with the largest share reserved for the year of 2017 (MOP44 million). This year, the company will receive a total of MOP33.70 million. In 2018 the company will get only MOP7.42 million.
According to information from the company that has been operating the treatment plant since 2008, the plant is capable of handling 130,000 cbm/d of wastewater. RM
