Mozambique’s minister of Industry and Trade, Armando Inroga, has given assurances that the government is speeding up the introduction and implementation of economic reforms in order to improve the country’s business climate, according to daily newspaper Notícias.
The minister said that reforms are necessary given that Mozambique is facing competition from countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in attracting investments.
Inroga recently in Maputo noted a set of economic policy measures taken by the government that include the adoption of a single form for the registration of companies and a credit risk centre to be approved soon by the Mozambican parliament .
“We also have the insolvency law, simplified commercial and industrial licensing, and the implementation of all these measures which are already in place, will allow Mozambique to rise in the ranking when the World Bank presents the next ‘Doing Business’ report,” he said.
In the latest “Doing Business” World Bank report on the competitiveness of world economies, Mozambique rose 15 places. MDT/Macauhub
