A direct bus connection between Macau and the Hong Kong International Airport is expected to be operational by mid-December, according to the director of the Transport Bureau (DSAT), with the final phase of the public tender for the route currently being processed.
“They are doing their best to start the operation in December,” said Lam Hin San, the DSAT director, as cited by public broadcaster TDM. “That’s what we were told by Hong Kong International Airport.”
Lam made the comments at the close of a Traffic Advisory Council meeting yesterday.
He confirmed that the route will start from the Macau border, in the same location as the existing bus service serving the bridge between the two special administrative regions.
Currently, bus users traveling from Macau to the Hong Kong International Airport need to take a secondary mode of transport once arriving on the Hong Kong side of the SAR-spanning bridge.
