The weekend’s Youth Career Expo 2022 saw over 1,000 entrants on its first day, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) disclosed in a statement.
Hosted by the DSAL, the event was co-hosted by the Macao New Chinese Youth Association and the General Association of Chinese Students of Macau.
Participating employers conducted over 600 interviews on-site on the first day.
The job fair had attracted more than 70 participating companies, offering over 1,100 positions in industries such as tourism and leisure, retail, finance, information technology, and mechanical and electrical engineering, the DSAL said.
The expo hosted talks and seminars that included topics such as the opportunities within, and the development of, the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone, job recruitment targeting Macau residents, the environment and eSports requirements in mainland China. The talks and seminars attracted about 400 attendees on the first day, the co-hosts said.
Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) data released earlier this month indicates that the general unemployment rate (4.3%) and unemployment rate of local residents (5.5%) for the June-August 2022 period rose 0.2 and 0.1 percentage points from the previous period (May-July 2022) respectively, a record high since 2008.
