The Asia Wine Institute has again partnered with SJM Resorts for the “SJM Asia Top Sommelier Summit 2024,” taking place in Macau from 14 to 18 October, a statement yesterday from the gaming operator said.
The event brings together sommeliers from across Asia and leading wine experts to promote the development of the wine industry and Macau’s “gastronomy + tourism” initiative. The summit aims, according to SJM, “to foster knowledge exchange and create a platform for sommeliers to expand their global reach,” reinforcing Macau’s role as a Creative City of Gastronomy.
An opening ceremony at the Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre drew over 300 industry professionals, including students from the Court of Master Sommeliers Accreditation. Key attendees included government officials, wine experts, and industry leaders.
Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, said the event “is a key part of SJM’s commitment to offering exceptional culinary experiences in Macau.”
The summit, which ends today, has been featuring forums, masterclasses, and tastings, including the “Asia Wines & Spirits Awards: Chinese and Portuguese Wines Carnival.” It will also host the 16th edition of the “China National Sommelier Competition” and the “12th China’s Wine List of the Year Awards,” celebrating achievements in wine excellence.
