With Easter is fast approaching, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) warmly visited Associação dos Familiares Encarregados dos Deficientes Mentais de Macau and donated MOP 100,000 in support of its charitable work. During the visit, the GEG volunteer team hosted a festive “Easter Bunny Cookies Decoration Workshop” for members of the association to create their very own Easter cookies.
“The donation from GEG can help us further refine our facilities and subsidize some needy families. It fully demonstrated its adhesion to the philosophy ‘from the community, for the community’ when GEG shares its success with the local community. Furthermore, the workshop will help the members to build up their abilities of dealing with emotion management, social cognition and interaction with others,” said Ms Sandra Lia, executive director of Associação dos Familiares Encarregados dos Deficientes Mentais de Macau.
With the help of GEG volunteers, the association members were able to showcase their creativity by decorating one-of-a-kind bunny cookies with colorful decorative garnishes and icing sugar. After decorating the bunny cookies, GEG volunteers also sang in chorus with the members and beat time to the music. Both the members and GEG volunteers enjoyed the afternoon of fun and festive joy.
Gary Lam, a GEG volunteer from the table games department, regards this activity as fulfilling because he can learn from the members of the association. “It’s a truly meaningful activity which reminds me [to be grateful] for what I have and helps me understand the true essence of ‘giving is better than receiving,’” he said.
ice sculpture exhibition wraps up at the venetian macao
Ice World, Asia’s largest annual indoor frozen wonderland, returned to the Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao for its fourth year, opening Nov. 27, 2014 and closing March 31. Originally scheduled to conclude on March 8, Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang run was extended until the end of March. The frozen wonderland offered people the chance to see everyone’s favorite DreamWorks Animation characters expertly carved in ice by craftsmen from Harbin.
Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang spanned more than 1,600 square meters and was divided into six themed zones where visitors were able to see ice renderings of Italian piazzas, bridges over canals, singing gondoliers, and meet all-ice versions of much-loved characters from “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Kung Fu Panda.” Skipper and his fellow penguins – Kowalski, Rico and Private – even took guests on a top-secret mission to explore the different worlds the DreamWorks Animation characters lived in, discovering what makes the holiday season so special for each.
