The Luso-Brazilian summit will take place next June, on a date to be announced, said Tuesday in Lisbon the Vice President of Brazil, Michel Temer, during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, Paulo Portas.
The two politicians stressed “the stability and intensity” of bilateral relations, and signed four cooperation agreements.
Paulo Portas noted Portugal’s openness and interest in attracting Brazilian investment alongside the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in Brazil, which is reflected in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Export Promotion Agency of Brazil (Apex-Brazil) and the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal (AICEP).
The Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned the opening up of more markets in the agricultural sector “to Portuguese products, companies and brands,” saying that some pending certification processes had been unlocked by the Brazilian Vice President.
Two years ago Portugal made a request to export citrus fruits and table grapes, which has now been approved by the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry. MDT/Macauhub
