Briefs | Surplus increases to MOP28 billion

The region’s budget surplus totaled MOP28.8 billion in August, MOP1.6 billion more than what had been amassed until July. According to data released yesterday by the Financial Services Bureau, the administration’s total revenue between January and August was MOP72.7b and expenditure amounted to MOP42.8b. That means that the MSAR’s surplus is 60 percent down in the first eight months of the year. However, in August the administration still managed to run a budget surplus, adding MOP1.6b to what had been collected until July.

Waterleau consortium gets new contract

The consortium Waterleau-ATAL will continue to provide maintenance and operation services in the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Concordia Industrial Park. The decision, by order of the Chief Executive, was published in the Official Gazette. For 2015 and 2016, the government will pay the consortium MOP3.2 million.  Back in 2014, when the last contract was extended, the Environmental Protection Bureau revealed that there were new plans for the wastewater treatment plant, which included a public tender process. However, that idea seems to have been discarded.
