Organized by the Health Bureau Services, the 2016 Survey of Macau Health is now being launched. The survey aims to assess the local population’s health situation. According to a statement issued by the Health Bureau, the information it will gather will be “decisive” in defining future healthcare policies.
A similar survey was conducted in 2006. Ten years later, the 2016 edition will update the existing data and, in order to guarantee the survey’s functionality and test all the procedures to be adopted, the Health Bureau will run a trial version throughout September and October 2015.
The trial will be divided into two parts: a household survey and an individual inquiry.
While conducting the household survey, Health Bureau surveyors will invite all Macau permanent residents aged 18 or above who are at home at the time of their visit, to complete the individual survey and be subjected to physical examinations that will be conducted at the Medical Examination Center for Public Officials (located on the 2nd floor of the Areia Preta Healthcare Centre).
The Health Bureau Services have chosen the districts of Areia Preta, and Iao Hon as targets for this trial survey that will occur over a 10 day period (September 14th to 25th), from Monday to Friday, during evening hours, visiting 180 pre-selected households. The families chosen will receive a notice from the Health Bureau Services.
The Health Bureau surveyors will be dressed in a uniform (black vest, with the designation of “Health Bureau Services” on the back) and will carry official identification cards.
