The Oscars are less about rewarding the best films than affirming Hollywood’s sense of itself. They are, as New Yorker stated, “Hollywood’s idealized self-portrait.” Film writer Jake Coyle thinks Academy Awards may be hooked on ‘Oscar bait’. The 2016 ceremony will be broadcast live from 9am on Monday.
