Albergue to hold | Mid-Autumn Festival party next week

Albergue SCM will be holding a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration on Wednesday, October 4 in its outdoor courtyard, to coincide with the opening of the “Little Rabbit Lanterns” exhibition.

The exhibition will be on display at Albergue SCM until December 6, and is the 13th edition by local architect Carlos Marreiros and his co-creators. This year’s tagline is “Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China,” likely due to the proximity of the Mid- Autumn Festival to the National Day holidays.

Twenty-six rabbit lanterns will be showcased in line with the works produced in previous years. The lanterns have been created and designed by artists and designers from various fields across the globe.

Works by students of the Macau Creative Lantern Workshop will also be exhibited.

The celebration will feature musical performances, festive food and drinks (including traditional Chinese sweet dumplings), a lantern riddle solving game, Chinese calligraphy demonstration, traditional rabbit lanterns and “bunny balloon twisting” for children. Two outdoor live music performances will be staged by Macau band, Tuna Macanese, at this year’s exhibition.

According to a statement from Albergue SCM, the organization has also prepared some 300 snack boxes with a traditional festive selection in line with previous years. Number tags for the snack boxes will distributed from 6 p.m., with one tag limited for a person to redeem a single box. Snack boxes can be collected between 7:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.The event is free of charge.
