ANM: ‘Too early’ to consider 2017 election

Asked about the association’s plans for the 2017 Legislative Assembly (AL) election, vice president Jason Chao said it is “still far too early” for New Macau to make any serious decisions.
“It is too early to say whether anyone [from the association] will stand in the election… you only need to declare candidacy three months before the election,” Chao told the Times.
In the 2013 AL election, ANM secured two out of the 14 directly elected seats. One of these however, affiliated lawmaker Au Kam San, distanced himself from the organization earlier this year.
“We [ANM] will have an internal election in a few months where a new president may be elected and the direction and policy of the group will be decided,” added Chao.
