Bats continue to fly high in Hong Kong

Last Sunday saw local rugby team the Macau Bats compete in the season’s 2nd Hong Kong rugby festival, hosted by Sandy Bay at King’s Park.

Despite the early departure to Hong Kong, due to the temporary closure of the HongKong/ Zhuhai/ Macau bridge, the Bats started their games with all guns blazing.

The U7s saw wins against Sandy Bay; USRC Tigers and Causeway Bay Monkeys and a draw with Hong Kong Football Club. The U8s followed that with 3 wins of their own and a narrow defeat to a very good Valley Fort team.

The U9s went one better with 4 wins against the strongest Hong Kong sides in a very impressive display of teamwork. Meanwhile, the U12s had their first experience of the top division in their age group and came through a very tough baptism with three losses and a win, which proved enough to maintain their position in the top league for the next round of fixtures, a very noteworthy achievement that they will look to build on.
