Beijing’s top official in SARs on a four-day trip in Macau

The head of Beijing’s top office overseeing Hong Kong and Macau affairs, Xia Baolong, has commenced a four-day visit to the city today. The official will be in the city until May 26. In an announcement, the SAR government pledged that it “will fully cooperate and make proper arrangements, and wishes the inspection a complete success.” In April, Xia made his first visit to Hong Kong as the official since the office had been upgraded to be positioned directly under the Communist Party. Xia is also the vice-chairman of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
