Briefs | Dried food seized at HKZM Bridge checkpoint

The Macau Customs has seized HKD70,000-worth of dried seafood and goods at the Macau checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HKZMB). During the Labor Day holidays, two tourists coming in from Hong Kong were inspected by the Customs at the Macau checkpoint as they were carrying suspicions bags of goods. Respectively 14 kg of dried fish maw, 1 box of dried deer tails, and a total of 96 packs of dried shallow’s nests. According to the law, these goods must be quarantined before entering Macau. The two were from Hong Kong and Mainland China respectively, and are subject to a fine between MOP1,000 and 50,000 each.

Special measures ordered by Court on domestic violence suspect

An unemployed man from Hong Kong was under investigation for allegedly assaulting his local girlfriend who lived with him. The victim did not report to the police even after repeated assault and threatening out of the fear of retaliation. Days ago, the victim eventually reported because she sustained several injuries in the latest assault. In order to prevent the suspect from obstructing the procedures and committing further violence, the judge agreed with the prosecutor and ordered special measures be taken on the suspect, including bail, regular report to the police, and injunction. Violator of the domestic violence crime is subject to imprisonment of one to five years.

Man cut himself with razor at a Cotai hotel

A man was found cutting himself with a razor blade at the Parisian Casino in Cotai. It happened at around 10:45 pm on Tuesday. The man was about 30 years old, and was suspected to have been in conflict with some casino staff related to the games he had played. He then took out a razor blade and started cutting his wrist. Security officers of the casino immediately requested for assistance from the on-site criminal investigators. The Judiciary Police deployed negotiators and successfully convinced the man for medical care after two hours. The man refused hospitalization though.
