Briefs | Girl in serious condition due to flu

As of Monday night, a one-year-old local girl is in serious condition after she was diagnosed with the influenza A virus, the Health Bureau (SSM) reported.  Within the 24 hours of 1 p.m. on Sunday, the SSM received four cases of influenza accompanied by pneumonia. In addition to these four individual cases, the SSM received five cases of group infections, involving a total of 66 students. One of the students, from the Escola De Santa Teresa Macau, had to remain hospitalized but is in a stable condition. The other students’ health situations were deemed ordinary.

DSI expands 24-hour self-service area

Following the introduction of round-the-clock self-service applications for the Certificate of Criminal Record, the Identification Services Bureau has extended the self-service application period for the Certificate of Personal Data to 24 hours, and expanded the 24-hour service location to the Government Services Centre in Areia Preta. Round-the-clock self-service facilities to apply for the Certificate of Criminal Record and the Certificate of Personal Data are also available at DSI’s electronic services area on the ground floor of the China Plaza in Avenida de Grande Praia, the Islands District Public Services Centre – Seac Pai Van Station and DSI’s self-service station in Seac Pai Van. Citizens can also apply for the Certificate of Criminal Record and the Certificate of Personal Data online. 

Local woman robbed her own house for gambling

A 22-year-old local woman has been arrested after she robbed her own house and her father, the Judiciary Police (PJ) reported yesterday. The suspect robbed her house together with her ex-boyfriend. In total, the couple stole MOP100,000 in property from her father, having committed the crime in order to raise money for illegal football betting. The police also found that the woman had previously robbed RMB30,000 from her house to pay back her debts, also accumulated from illegal football betting. The PJ seized around MOP4,000 in Anniversary Banknotes.

MGM announces bonus for team members

MGM announced yesterday that a discretionary bonus will be paid to its eligible non-management team members, starting the end of the month. The bonus is equal to one month’s salary and will be paid in two equal installments at the end of January and mid-February 2019. Grant Bowie, CEO and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said “the bonus is our appreciation and recognition to our team members for their hard work and dedication that strengthen us every day as an organization.  2019 is the year that MGM will continue to be bold for change and to innovate on building our relations with team members, our customers and the community,” as cited in a press release.

Wynn Macau bonus applies to 96 percent of staff

Wynn Macau Ltd yesterday announced that a “winter bonus” equal to one month’s gross salary will be paid to all eligible Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace employees, excluding senior management. According to a statement released by the company, the bonus will apply to nearly 96 percent of the current 13,500-strong workforce. “This bonus is being awarded to show the company’s appreciation to all [employees] for their hard work, commitment and loyalty during what has been a successful second half of 2018,” the statement noted.
