BRIEFS: Macau airport passenger growth

Over 450,000 passengers used the Macau International Airport (MIA) in November, representing an increase of 9.5 percent year-on-year. Aircraft movements reached over 4,600 in November, representing an 11.5 increase from the same month last year, MIA said in a statement.  By the end of November, MIA recorded a passenger traffic volume of over 5 million, similar to 2013. Inbound, outbound and transfer passengers all recorded as having increases, as the number of tourists vising Macau also grew. According to MIA, Southeast Asia and mainland China routes remained as major markets, accounting for 39 percent and 34 percent of total passengers respectively. The Taiwan market accounted for 27 percent of the total passenger volume. MIA claimed that it is prepared for the upcoming holiday season, ready to provide “high-quality, safe and efficient services” to passengers.

Mozambique consulate opens

The Consulate General of Mozambique in Macau has recently opened in the NAPE area. It will be open to the public from Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  and 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Authorities are urging Mozambican nationals living in Macau to register with the consulate. The opening ceremony for the new consulate took place in October. The consul-general of Mozambique to Macau, Rafael Custódio Marques, hopes that Chinese and Macau governments, as well as organizations in Macau, can provide support in building cooperation between China and Mozambique. The Consulate is located at Avenida Dr. Carlos d’Assumpção, Cheng Feng Centro Comercial, Floor 21.
