Two assault cases involving knives took place yesterday, with one allegedly related to domestic violence. The first case of assault took place at around 1 p.m. in a residential apartment on Rua da Erva. Information suggested that a Vietnamese couple was involved in an argument that descended into a physical altercation. The husband allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and attacked his wife. The victim was stabbed multiple times and fell to the bed. The police later arrived at the scene and took the man into custody. The woman was sent to the hospital. Another case took place later in Taipa at around 2.50 p.m. A 46-year-old man told the police that a man wearing a cap assaulted him with a knife when he was leaving a parking lot. He sustained multiple injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.
Vigil ‘Je suis Charlie – All together!’
The Macau Portuguese and English Press Association (AIPIM) and the Rui Cunha Foundation will organize a vigil tomorrow to protest against the three days of terror that killed 17 people in France. “The objective of the vigil is to remember the journalists killed in the horrific and barbaric terrorist attack at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo,” said AIPIM’s president, João Francisco Pinto. He added that AIPIM “fully defends the freedom of the press and freedom of expression. We also feel that these values are shared by the civil society and, therefore, we approached the Rui Cunha Foundation to try to organize this vigil, which comes one week after the terrorist attack.” The vigil ‘Je suis Charlie – All together!’ will take place at the Rui Cunha Foundation at 6.30 p.m.
