Fire Services test response to mock fire on LRT

The Fire Services Bureau (CB) and the Sociedade do Metro Ligeiro de Macau, SA, have held a drill to test the response from the services to a hypothetical outbreak of fire at the Light Rapid Transit (LRT). The drill took place on the evening of January 21 and was staged at the LRT Station of the Taipa Maritime Terminal. The exercise simulated a situation in which the first car of LRT train heading from the Taipa Maritime Terminal to Airport Station had smoke inside it, and then lost power, prompting the staff from LRT company to initiate the emergency procedures. In the process, the staff from the LRT evacuated the train, helping the passengers on board to return to the Maritime Terminal station on foot through an emergency escape route. The CB deployed a total of nine emergency vehicles and 31 firemen to the scene and, in accordance with the rescue plans, entered the train to rescue any passengers in need and transport the injured or affected to the hospital.
