It was about 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon when flames were seen bursting out of a vehicle stopped at the entrance of the Nam Van public car park (on Pak Wu).
According to a spokesperson contacted by the Times at the Public Security Police Force, the driver involved was entering the car park after some time spent waiting when he noticed smoke building up inside his car.
The Fire Services were immediately called and managed to quickly put out the fire.
Although the cause of the fire has not yet been discovered, the authorities believe that it might have been caused by a source external to the vehicle since the vehicle itself seemed to be relatively unaffected after the fire was put out.
All those involved in the unusual case escaped from the incident unhurt, according to the police.  RM
