The Macao Cultural Centre (CCM) is calling for local playwrights, directors and actors to join a programme under the guidance of the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre (SDAC).
The exchange project “Twin Cities” is set to fine-tune participants’ skills in all areas related to drama; involving local practitioners in auditions, workshops and the creation of an inspiring theatre play.
Taking place until the end of October, the recruiting and auditioning phase will be followed by a script-writing period, before moving to Shanghai.
According the bureau’s statement, the selected group of participants will join SDAC’s professionals to unpack and rehearse a play based on stories nurtured in both cities.
Back in Macau, the performance in April 2017 will be presented in two parts. The first will be a performance of a script written in Shanghai, staged by a local director leading a Shanghainese cast, whereas the second half will feature a story written by a local writer directed by a Shanghainese director and performed by local thespians.
Founded in 1995, the SDAC is one of China’s most prestigious dramatic institutions, producing and promoting over 600 performances every year, tackling a wide range of styles and themes.
Candidates may submit their applications until October 18, 2016. Application forms and further information can be downloaded at www.ccm.gov.mo.
