The Chief Executive (CE), Chui Sai On co-presided, together with the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, a meeting of the Macau-Portugal Joint Committee, held yesterday in Lisbon at the Portuguese Foreign Affairs Ministry.
In the meeting two subject matters were highlighted: Education and Economy.
On the first, the Portuguese government reaffirmed the political support to the continuation of Portuguese language learning in the region, although no concrete measures were suggested.
On economic cooperation, a new cooperation in scientific investigation was discussed, with a signing of an agreement expected between the Portuguese Science Fund and Macau’s Science Development Fund in the near future.
After the meeting, the CE headed to a meeting where he was received by the Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa at S. Bento Palace. He was expended to conclude his day with another meeting, this time with the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who had initially invited the CE to visit Portugal.  RM
