The Decoration of Honour – Grand Lotus award was given to former Chief Executive Chui Sai On, and Zhong Nanshan, the Chinese pulmonologist who has been leading China’s National Health Commission expert panel in investigating the Covid-19 outbreak.
On Friday, Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng presented awards to 34 individuals and organisations in recognition of either their achievements, outstanding contributions or distinguished service to Macau.
The list of recommendations for the 2020 Decorations, Medals and Certificates of Merit Awards Ceremony of the SAR is based on recommendations from the Committee of Nomination of Medals and Honorary Titles.
The Medal for Distinguished Service – Medal for Bravery has been given to bureaus that are part of the region’s Covid-19 response efforts, such as the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Health Bureau, the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Conde S. Januário Hospital of the Health Bureau and the Tourism Crisis Management Office.
The teams who assisted with the return of Macau residents stranded in Hubei Province via a chartered flight, the return of local residents stranded on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan and the team sent to Africa for anti-pandemic support work were awarded the Honorific Title – Merit. LV
