CNY | Aviation Authority approves application of 48 additional flights

1-CNY-extra-and-charter-flights-03.02.16-pictureTo cope with the increasing number of passengers throughout the Chinese New Year, the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) approved the applications of a total of 48 additional scheduled service and charter flights submitted by three airlines. These flights are destined to travel to and from mainland China (23 flights), Taiwan (12 flights), Japan (seven flights) and the Republic of Korea (five flights).
Air Macau, China Southern Airlines and Tiger Taiwan began operations of the above additional flights on February 1 and will run them until February 16.
In a press release, AACM stressed that during the Chinese New Year the market for the short-haul flights such as those to and from mainland China, Taiwan China, Japan and Korea are usually in great demand.
Separately, the Macau International Airport (MIA) revealed yesterday that the volume of passenger traffic and aircraft movements recorded an increase of 23 percent and 4 percent respectively for the month of January, 2016 compared to the same period last year.
