Commission ‘feeble’ when handling complaints

In the forward of the CCAC Annual Report, Commissioner Fong Man Chong has said that many of the issues in government departments that were discovered by the Commission have yet to be resolved. “In the tangling of old and new issues, the watchdog feels feeble as well,” he wrote. Mr Fong urged departments to observe the four principles: following the law, being honest and upright, being efficient, and providing outstanding service.
The CCAC report shows that the Commission has received or followed up 896 reports and complaints in 2013, 44 more than that in 2012. Among the 896 cases, 534 were administrative complaints. Some complaints were made through letters and phone calls. Around 150 were made in person. CCAC was able to open files for 782 reports and unofficially handled 33 reports.
In 2013, the Commission received 1,304 enquires, 779 of them involving criminal matters and 525 concerning administrative complaints.
