The firm Consulasia, which was established in Macau back in 2002, will review the troubled LRT depot project. According to the contract, published yesterday in the Official Gazette, the company will be paid around MOP35 million for the works to be performed between 2015 and 2019. About MOP14 million are related to this year, with the bigger slice (MOP17.5 million) to be delivered during 2016. In 2019 the government will deliver a final payment of MOP3.5 million. It was announced last week that given the major delays on the construction of the LRT depot, the government has reached an agreement with Mitsubishi, the manufacturer of the trains. The Japanese company will store and maintain the “Ocean Cruiser” trains, which will run on the LRT railway after its completion. The delay will cost local authorities up to MOP700 million.
