This October, MGM’s two signature Chinese restaurants will collaborate with Yechun Teahouse, a century-old restaurant in Yangzhou, in preparing a Huaiyang Feast and an inaugural Red Mansion Feast in Macau featuring cooperation between chefs from Yangzhou and MGM’s chefs.
The hotel is introducing Huaiyang cuisine to locals and tourists alike. This year marks the 2,500th anniversary of Yangzhou City, and makes the perfect occasion to celebrate the city’s heritage with its culinary offerings. The cuisine is known of its use of fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients, while also putting emphasis on the carving skills. Most dishes are paired with clear broths, consommé and dumplings which are light in taste with a lingering aroma.
In addition to signature Huaiyang dishes, MGM is introducing a Red Mansion Feast to Macau. The Feast is a recreation of different banquets described in details in the “Dreams of the Red Mansion”, one of the four great classical novels in China. Following years of research, investigation, analysis of historical documents and ancient recipes by top Huaiyang chefs and a number of historians, the “Red Mansion Feast” combines the costume, stories, music and dishes described in the novel to take guests back in time to the bygone Qing dynasty. For optimum guest experience, the Red Mansion Feast is limited to four tables per night and reservation is required.
las vegas sands to build 200,000 hygiene kits with clean the world
Las Vegas Sands Corp. and international non-profit Clean the World are holding a 24-hour global volunteer effort to build 200,000 hygiene kits that will improve the health and well being of vulnerable populations worldwide. The company is calling on the Macau community to join Sands China team members at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo from 2-9 p.m. on Sept. 26.
The Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Build with Clean the World will be both organizations’ largest volunteer effort to date. The build will be held at LVS’ Singapore, Macau, Bethlehem and Las Vegas properties sequentially and all within a 24-hour period. The effort is part of LVS’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, and its ongoing partnership with Clean the World.
“For the first time ever, Las Vegas Sands properties are joining in a single and united Sands Cares event to help communities across the globe,’’ said Ron Reese, senior vice president of corporate communications at LVS. “This global kit build with Clean the World will help thousands of impoverished and homeless people who can’t afford or lack access to simple basics like soap or shampoo – including those in need in our local communities. These kits help prevent disease and promote good health and dignity.”
