Crime | Man knifed in casino over debt dispute

A man from mainland China received knife wounds to his neck and hands inside the Kam Pek Paradise Casino in NAPE at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the perpetrator, also from the mainland, attacked him with a butcher’s knife due to a dispute over money. The 49-year old perpetrator claimed he was attempting to recover debt from the man who then ignored his request.  Driven by anger, he purchased a butcher’s knife in a nearby supermarket and returned to the casino to attack the alleged debtor. Moreover, he claimed he did not undergo a security check when entering the casino with the knife. Two PSP officers standing guard outside the casino discovered the perpetrator running outside with the knife and seized him.
One of the police officers drew a gun on the suspect when he attempted to flee. The 36-year old victim received three wounds but was taken to the hospital and is now in a stable condition.
