DICJ will not renew licenses of 35 junkets

The director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Paulo Martins Chan, has announced that the authority will not renew the licenses of 35 junket promoters.
The director explained during TDM’s program Macau Forum that the decision was reached due to the failure of the junkets to deliver their accounting information by the deadline that had been imposed by the bureau.
It is not clear what will happen to the junket promoters that have failed to have their licenses renewed, but Chan said that the decision could help to eliminate underperforming entities in Macau.
He also released an update concerning the Dore scandal last year, which he said the bureau has been following up. Chan said the negotiations with Dore and its business partner, Wynn, had confirmed the existence of some accounting records.
The case is now under investigation and legal proceedings have begun, the director added.
