The distribution work of 2021 Wealth Partaking Scheme has concluded five weeks earlier than it did last year.
The distribution of the annual cash handout started on April 12 and concluded on May 21.
Residents born between 2014 and 2020 were among the last to receive the subsidy.
The handouts this year benefitted approximately 690,000 permanent residents and approximately 46,000 non-permanent residents.
According to data from the Financial Services Bureau, during implementation, 484,824 beneficiaries had received the cash premium via bank transfer, accounting for MOP4,732,560,000, while 244,599 crossed checks had been mailed, amounting to MOP2,387,078,000.
Hitherto, 126,311 checks have been honored, representing 51.6% of the total number of checks issued.
During the distribution period some 10,733 enquiries had been handled, 8,156 (or 75.9%) of which were made by telephone hotline.
This year’s cash handout was implemented early as part of the government’s stimulus package.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the SAR government customarily distributed cash handouts to individuals during the summer period.
