Driver assaults police officer

On June 4, a police officer from the Public Security Police Force (PSP) was assaulted while trying to stop a driver using an app to offer illegal taxi services in the Cotai area, the PSP said at a press conference.
While on patrol, the officer found a suspicious private car parked at the main door of a hotel, and followed it after seeing a passenger board after checking his mobile phone.
The officer stopped the vehicle a few meters ahead and approached the driver, noticing that he was using an app for the transport service.
The driver pulled the officer’s hand and arm several times. The officer later had to seek treatment at the hospital for his bleeding hand.
The driver had also used his mobile phone to film the officer during the operation, but later admitted the assault. He was presented to the Public Prosecutions Officer on charges of assaulting an officer and illegally filming the procedure.
